Book pages with drawings elaborated Goya and Hokusai relate to scenes of the film Iracema, uma Transa Amazônica (Iracema, an Amazon History), 1975, by Jorge Bodanzky.
The series was developed as a republication of sociology books, dating up to the 1970s, found in a private library the artist inherited. Bindings were stripped away, pages removed; whole chunks of text were blotted out with paint and covered over with drawings inspired by Goya and Hokusai. These pages were articulated with drawings based on stills from the film Iracema, uma transa amazônica (1976), by Jorge Bodanzky. By visually reorganizing texts, reflections, and associations, the artist raises questions on identity, memory, and civilization.
