Insomnia, 2006
Performance in collaboration with Thelma Bonavita.
Sound editing: Hugo Frasa.
Insomnia imposes itself as one expression of our malaise. In the moment of sleeping, the insomniac is forced to contemplate darkness: he or she cannot relax or rest. This action tries to observe and present a testimony on the insomniac`s condition.
At the center of the room, a standing mattress is cleared by two overturned bedside lamps. The performer, wearing bedtime clothes, circles the mattress in slow motion, while drawing the contour of body parts; her shadow is projected on the mattress and the walls. Sound superposes speeches and testimonies on insomnia, music and street noise.
