El Dorado and Day for Night, 2011-12

Book pages with drawings elaborated Goya and Hokusai relate to scenes of the film Iracema, uma Transa Amazônica (Iracema, an Amazon History), 1975, by Jorge Bodanzky.

The series was constituted as a re-edition of books that belong to an inherited library, composed of sociology titles published until the 1970`s. Sections of these books were unsewed and disassembled; prints spaces were covered with blue and yellow paint, and received drawings inspired by Goya and Hokusai. These new pages were then related to drawings of frames of the film Iracema (1975), by Jorge Bodanzky, made with graffiti and pyrograph. Visually reorganizing those images, the work poses questions about identity, memory and civilization.
